2026 CANDIDATE FILING INFORMATION
Candidates for the following offices shall file with the Warren County Clerk to attain ballot access in 2026:
- Property Valuation Administrator
- County Judge Executive
- County Attorney
- County Clerk
- Sheriff
- Jailer
- Coroner
- County Surveyor
- Magistrate/Justice of the Peace
- Constable
- Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor (3 seats)
- Mayor (Oakland, Plum Springs, Smiths Grove, Woodburn)
- City Legislative Body (All)
- Board of Education (County School Districts 3 & 5; City School-2 seats)
All candidate packets can now be accessed and printed online by going to the following:
- sos.ky.gov
- Choose the “Elections” tab.
- Choose “Candidate Filing Forms” from the drop-down menu.
- Follow the prompts for each office to download the filing packet.
- All forms were updated in June 2025 to reflect updated legislation. Previous versions of filing paperwork will not be accepted.
- Per KRS 118.165(2), the County Clerk’s office is to review the “face” of a candidate’s form and declaration. The Clerk’s office will not verify the contents of a candidate’s documents including qualifications, party affiliation, witness signatures or residence requirements. It is the candidate’s responsibility to verify the information contained within the filing documents are correct.
- All forms are subject to open records requests.
Following are guidelines for candidates filing with the Office of the County Clerk:
- Complete all applicable blanks on the online fillable filing form.
- If the filing form requires notarization, the candidates and signers must have their signatures acknowledged by a Notary Public and the expiration date and notary’s commission number must be stated.
- Checks should be made payable to the Warren County Clerk’s Office
- Candidates may file in person or by mail by the 4pm deadline at the following address:

All candidates, even if filing for exemption, MUST electronically file a Statement of Spending Intent and Appointment of Campaign Treasurer form (KREF 001).
- Candidates must create an online account (eFiling) by visiting http://www.kref.ky.gov.
- Questions relating to campaign finance procedures and requirements should be directed to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance at (502) 573-2226.
- The Candidate Guide to Campaign Finance is also available on KREF’s website.
- Candidates wishing to start their campaign before they are allowed to officially file for office may file a “Letter of Intent” with the Registry of Election Finance in Frankfort.
Financial Interest Statement (Where applicable)
- In accordance with KRS 65.003, Warren County, and each incorporated city therein, has adopted an ordinance implementing an ethics code. As part of the Codes of Ethics in Cities and Counties, candidates for the offices of County Judge Executive, Fiscal Court, County Clerk, County Attorney, Sheriff, Jailer, Coroner, Surveyor, Constable, Mayor, and City Commission are required to file a Financial Interest Statement no later than twenty-one (21) days after submitting their filing paperwork. Financial Interest Statements can be obtained from the office of the Warren County Clerk. Call the election department at 270-843-5306 for more information.
